Checkerboard Borders: Experimental Film of the Global South The screening foregrounds contemporary experimental and avant-garde films from Iran, Mexico, China, Taiwan, and Palestine that stalk the themes of memory, longing, home-coming, and displacement. All films have a unique visual and narrative approach and explore performance and performativity for, in collaboration with, or in spite of the camera. The screening is a collaboration with Sarah Lasley and Masha Vlasova. The screening is organized in conjunction with a panel with filmmakers on March 15th (Zoom) and a lecture titled “Screening Palestine” by Dr. Nadia Yaqub on March 22nd (Zoom).
